A career planning program developed by Employee Selection Experts
Understanding the challenge all young adults face
The Choosing Your Career program was developed for a couple of important reasons. First, we clearly understand the difficult task all young adults face in choosing the right career path. A career that is a natural fit, that they will truly enjoy, and where they have a high likelihood of great success.
The choice of a career is typically the biggest decision one will make in his or her lifetime. However, high school and college students simply don’t have the experience or information to know which career fields suit them the best. There is a tremendous need for insight and clarity. Very few resources available to students are reliable and actionable. And unfortunately, the cost of making a poor, uniformed decision is expensive, harsh, and can last a lifetime
Applying lessons learned over nearly two decades
We also developed the program to share the lessons we have learned in nearly two decades of business consulting with a primary focus on developing highly predictive employee selection processes. We have provided companies in many different industries with proven tools that ensure hiring managers only interview candidates they know (even before the interview) are a good fit for the position and have a higher likelihood of top-tier job performance. Our process works for any position, within any sized company, in any industry.
Having sat across the table from job candidates for many years, we understand what job candidates experience when going through the job search/application/interview process. Almost all companies put a disproportionate amount of focus on technical qualification of candidates. Level of experience, level of education, and the college one attended are examples of technical qualifications that are rarely predictive of future job performance. Unfortunately, nearly all hiring managers use technical qualifications as the primary justification, or “cover” for the candidates they hire.
What really matters is how natural the candidate fits the various aspects of the job, and the level of friction he or she will likely experience when their natural characteristics and tendencies don’t align with the aspects of the job.
Making life better for thousands of young men and women
With this in mind, our program measures the areas that actually matter. In other words, we objectively measure the areas that are truly predictive of future performance. What this means for our program participants is a clear understanding of the specific aspects where you are a natural fit, and the aspects where you may experience friction, for nearly two hundred careers.
We are proud of the fact that we have helped so many young men and women over the years. The majority of them simply didn’t know where or how to begin the process of choosing their college major or career. It puts a smile on our faces when we hear from those who were once lost and frustrated, and are now thriving in careers they love….careers they may never have even considered had it not been for the Choosing Your Career program.
